I will need to include an appropriate number of titles within my sequence, in the correct style, format and pacing.
The objective of a title sequence is to show titles first and foremost, so this is something I need to seriously consider.
Style
I would like the style and font of my titles to be relatively neutral, reminiscent of how Reservoir Dogs uses font neutrality
in order to not immediately reveal meaning/genre (see case study 2). I would like the titles to be white in colour in order to fit in with the greyscale effect of the shots, possibly with a subtle ‘drop shadow’ behind the titles so that it stands out from the shot and doesn’t ‘blend’ too much.
Pacing
Based on my research detailed in the timeline task, I would like the pacing of my titles to be similar to the pacing of the titles in SEVEN in that the titles will be in my outdoor location shots and also black screens but there will be shots of narrative importance that will not contain any titles at all. The titles will be timed to fade in and out to punctuations of orchestral music.
Frequency
I would like to have approximately 15-20 titles in my sequence the duration is exactly 2 minutes. This would allow for appropriate pacing to the soundtrack. This is also based on my research of title frequency in title sequences from my case studies and Title Timeline task.
