The Target Audience of my film is that of young adults, more specifically anyone in an age range of 17-27.
I have decided upon this target audience from researching the top demographics of several influential horror films, both old and new.

Classic Zombie-Apocalypse horror Dawn Of The Dead (1978) by George Romero carried a popular demographic of 25-34 years of age on the trailer (from YouTube) and a less popular demographic of 18-24, the age of this film, however, has led it to be most popular with older age brackets.

the age of Dawn of The Dead sees it favoured by an older demographic, but it is still popular with younger adults

More recent horror franchise Paranormal Activity has proven to be very popular with young adults, the average age brackets of interest according to the trailers (from YouTube) are 13-17 and 18-24.

The trailer for the upcoming Paranormal Activity 4 proves the horror genre is popular with a younger audience

Other films such as Dracula (1992) and 28 Days Later (2002) prove popular with younger audiences – conventional horror as a genre, or horror conventions mixed with elements of thriller or comedy – still remains popular to this day. Hopefully, by using horror conventions in my title sequence, mainly through Mis En Scene, sound and editing, I will target the audience of young adults.

I will do this by initially using conventional horror elements – this includes the use of Mis En Scene and Locations, such as graveyards, churches and old buildings. It also includes low-key or dark ambient lighting as well as conventional thematic music or audio. I think I will be able to achieve these elements and bind them together with some other techniques I have discovered in my research to give the product a more contemporary feel.
